BlackSpace pays you through Stripe, a payment company that moves money from your sales to your bank account. To get paid, you connect your store to Stripe one time. This article walks through every screen, in order, so you always know what comes next.
You enter your personal and bank details on Stripe's own pages. Stripe keeps them, and Stripe is the company that verifies you.
Before you start
Have these ready. Stripe asks for all of them.
- Your legal name, the way it appears on your government ID or tax records
- Your date of birth
- Your home address
- A mobile phone that can get text messages
- The last 4 digits of your Social Security number
- Your bank account. Either your online banking sign-in, or your routing number and account number
- Your BlackSpace store link. To find it, click Visit Store in your Seller Dashboard and copy the address from your browser
Step 1: Open the Stripe page in your Seller Dashboard
In your Seller Dashboard, go to Settings, then Payment. You can also go straight there: https://myblackspace.co/dashboard/settings/payment/. This page looks different from the rest of the Seller Dashboard, and that's expected.
Next to Stripe, click Manage. You'll see this screen:

- The yellow message tells you your store isn't connected to Stripe yet.
- Click Connect with stripe. Stripe's sign-up opens.
Step 2: Enter your email and phone number

- Enter your email address.
- Enter your mobile phone number. Stripe texts a code to this number.
- Click Submit.
Step 3: Enter the code Stripe texted you

- Type the 6-digit code from the text message.
- No text yet? Wait a minute, then click Resend code.
- If you typed the wrong number, click Use a different phone number.
Step 4: Choose your business type
Stripe asks what kind of business you have. Click the Business type box to see the choices:

- Individual. Pick this if you haven't filed paperwork to register your business, such as an LLC or a corporation.
- Company. Pick this if your business is registered, such as an LLC or a corporation.
- Nonprofit organization. Pick this if your business is a registered nonprofit.
- Government entity. This one is for government agencies. Sellers don't usually pick it.
The rest of this article shows the Individual screens. If you pick Company or Nonprofit organization, Stripe asks for more details about your business, but the steps follow the same pattern.

- Your choice shows in the Business type box.
- Not sure which to pick? Click support article for Stripe's explanation.
- Click Continue.
Step 5: Verify your personal details
Stripe uses these details to confirm who you are. This page is long, so scroll down to see all of it.

- Enter your legal first and last name, exactly as they appear on your government ID or tax records.
- Your email is already filled in from your BlackSpace account. Check that it's right.
- Enter your date of birth.
- Enter your home address.

- Finish your home address: city, state, and ZIP code.
- Enter your mobile phone number.
- Enter the last 4 digits of your Social Security number.
- Click Continue.
Step 6: Tell Stripe about your business

- Click Industry and pick the option that best matches what you sell.
- In Your website, enter your BlackSpace store link, for example https://your-store-name.myblackspace.co.
- You don't need this link. Your BlackSpace store counts as your website.
- Click Continue.
Step 7: Add the bank account you want to be paid in
Stripe shows a list of banks. Search for your bank, click it, and sign in with your online banking username and password. Stripe uses that sign-in to link your account.
If your bank isn't in the list, or you'd rather not sign in, use the link under the list of banks to type in your bank details yourself. You'll see this box:

- Enter your bank's routing number.
- Enter your account number.
- Enter your account number again to confirm it.
- Click Submit.
The small print above Submit is Stripe's standard bank authorization. You can read the full terms through the terms link in that sentence.
Step 8: Skip the Link offer (optional)
Stripe may offer to save your details with Link, Stripe's own saved-details service. You don't need it to get paid on BlackSpace.

- Save with Link signs you up for Link. This is optional.
- Click Finish without saving to keep going. Your bank account still connects.
Step 9: Review and submit
Stripe shows everything you entered on one page. Read it over before you submit.

- Your business type.
- Your website, which should be your BlackSpace store link.
- Your Statement descriptor. Stripe fills this in from your website. You can leave it as it is. Buyers see BLACKSPACE on their card statements when they buy from your store, not this text.
- See a mistake? Click Edit next to that section to fix it.

- Your personal details.
- The bank account your payouts go to.
- When everything looks right, click Agree and submit.
Step 10: You're connected
Stripe sends you back to your Seller Dashboard. When the connection worked, you'll see this:

- The green message says Your account is connected with Stripe. Your Merchant ID is your Stripe account number. You don't need to save it.
- Visit Express Dashboard opens your Stripe account, where you can see your money and change your bank account. See "Check your Stripe account any time" below.
- Disconnect removes your Stripe connection. Read "Two buttons to leave alone" before you ever click it.
That's it. Once you're connected, payouts happen on their own. How payouts work for selling on BlackSpace explains when each order is paid.
Sometimes Stripe can't verify everything right away. If that happens, you'll see this message instead of the green one:

- The message says you might not have finished, or Stripe needs more time to verify you.
- Click Complete Onboarding to go back to Stripe and finish what it needs.
- Don't click Cancel Onboarding. See "Two buttons to leave alone" below.
If Stripe needs anything from you later, Stripe emails you directly. Those emails come from Stripe, not from BlackSpace.
- Cancel Onboarding. It throws away what you entered, and you'll have to start the setup over.
- Disconnect. It removes your Stripe connection from BlackSpace right away, with no second warning. You won't get paid until you reconnect.
If your Stripe account isn't connected when your earnings are due, BlackSpace holds them. Nothing is transferred while you're disconnected, and your earnings aren't forfeited. After you reconnect Stripe, BlackSpace transfers all earnings whose payout hold has ended, usually the same day or the next day, no matter how long ago the order was placed. If you don't reconnect and your earnings go unclaimed for the period set by state unclaimed property law, BlackSpace may be required to send them to the state, and you can claim them from the state.
If you disconnected by mistake
Your Stripe account is still there, so reconnecting is quick. On the same Stripe page in your Seller Dashboard, click Connect with stripe. Stripe asks you to sign in:

- Enter the code Stripe texts you.
- No text yet? Click Resend code.
- If you no longer have that phone, click I no longer have access to this phone number.
Stripe then shows the details you entered before, on a page called Review and confirm. You don't need to type anything again.

- Your personal details.
- Your bank account.
- Click Confirm. You're connected again.
Check your Stripe account any time
On the Stripe page in your Seller Dashboard, click Visit Express Dashboard. Stripe texts you a code to sign in:

Enter the code, and your Stripe account opens:

- Total balance shows the money in your Stripe account.
- Recent transactions lists the money BlackSpace has sent you.
- Balance shows what's on its way to your bank and when it arrives.
- Settings is where you change the bank account your payouts go to.
