A digital product is a file buyers download after they pay, such as an ebook, a printable, a sewing pattern, or a music track. Nothing gets shipped, so you skip the weight and size boxes.

A digital product is set up like a simple product, plus a few extra settings. If you haven't listed a product before, start with How to list a simple product.

Step 1: Turn on the digital settings

Start a new product (or open one) and leave Product Type on Simple. Right under it, in Digital Product Options:

1. Check Downloadable (1). This adds the section where you upload your file.
2. Check Virtual (2). This tells BlackSpace the item isn't shipped.

Check both boxes. BlackSpace needs both of them, and the file you upload in Step 2, before it will publish a digital product.

Fill in the Title, Categories, Price, and Description the same way you would for any product.

Step 2: Upload your file

Scroll to the bottom of the page to find Downloadable Options. Under Downloadable Files:

1. In the first box (1), type the name buyers will see, such as "Weekly planner (PDF)."
2. Click Choose (2) and pick the file from your computer. To sell more than one file together, click Add New and repeat.
3. Download Limit (3): how many times a buyer can download it. Leave it blank to allow unlimited downloads.
4. Download Expiration (in Days) (4): how many days the download link works after purchase. Leave it blank so the link never expires.

Step 3: Publish

Add a Feature Image in the right column, such as a cover or a preview of the file. Then set Status to Publish and click the button at the top right (Save Changes or Update Product).

Good to know

• Buyers can only download the file after their payment goes through.
• Selling a printed version too? List it as a separate simple product with its weight and size filled in.
